Damn the fotos!!

The past 3 days have been fun.
Lots of football (quality time!) at home. And the fact that i watched an amazing movie...'Cloverfield', will write a proper review after couple of days and also
'Patriots' won! yipeee!! They sure are getting closer to their Super bowl (much against KP's wishes! he heee)

Anyway as always i was fiddling with my computer and came up with this urge to post my picture in the blog profile. And what do you think? Out of 100s from my recent California trip, I couldn't find that one perfect picture!
Not enough light, looking too serious, shadow on the face, looks too fat(!), not smiling enough, smiling too much, not a good angle, too far away, too close............. all rejected!
After loads of searching, cropping, posting, not satisfied and searching again.... the only consoling feedback from Arv was an amused look!
After my incessant,
What do you think?
What do you think?
What do you think?
he finally said....
'What you have is what you see!'
How very helpful!
He actually might have a point there!.....
It just got me thinking if all you folks who have your pic. on blog or have thought of posting one found it as difficult.

I 'll just hate to add one more to my 'weird problems' list standing all alone there. mmmmm....

I am known to change my picture everyday on my orkut profile. It started off with "not having a picture nice enough" and now its a habit!

Naah I have no desire to put a pick up - I agree that a face to a name is great and all that but as someone who got so many warning before getting onto the net and also have been on social networking sites way before anyone here even heard of orkut, I am glad I don't feel the urge or the need to put up a pic (of myself). Killed the orkut pic too - not to see anyways.
But I use to put pics of scenery and all that before - now I don't cause it adds 0 value. Sure someone can look at it and feel good cause it is a beautiful picture but they can get that anywhere anytime (google image search) - So I don't bother but choosing pics IS difficult. I hate when I have to take a pic to put on an ID or something.

@ reeta skeeter: At least there you wouldn't have too much of a prob right? Or maybe you wud... 'What pic. represents me truly?' that'll be another huge question... oh god i know where that'll take me... he heeee

@ cosmic joy: Just when i had thought i found The One and posted it i got a call from a friend who is a regular blog reader saying thta 'the pic doesn't do justice preethi'. There went my work down the drain... now i'm not up to the job. maybe in a couple of days i'll try updating it agai .

@ deepali: hey hey...u r single, maybe u'll face a lot more challenges in any social network site. I'd like to think i'm pretty safe :) This pic posting was a kind of thought that comes your way when u r bored. All this selection kept me occupied for hours without any result tho'. Interesting way to waste time. he heee
Although i'd personally like to see who you are!! - the gal is who speaks her mind freely! ;)

@ KP: U have ur pic everywhere i see! why don't i see all that work in your blog i wonder!!mmmm.... he hee ...To each his own, i know......

@ preethi: I tried... and wasn't satisfied. maybe i'll try later... and yes.... arv can do that- finish my whole rambling with one simple sentence. Umph!!

hehe not as freely as i'd like.

but interesting point there - relationship status should maybe never be single (a friend of mine gave me an idea that worked - he said desi name and from bbay no wonder - change where you are from and since then i was from djibouti - which is in africa and I didnt know existed till that very day) of course i cant change it now - will get asked a million questions from all the contacts.

first of all interesting post - secondly choosing a pic is always difficult as you have a perception of yourself that you want others to see and that makes it more dificult - we are our own worst enemies....

honestly.....everytime i pick up a new book - i check the end jacket to see if there is a pic of the writer - somehow makes the reading more personal and exciting.....

like to give an example - reading jhumpa lahiri - the name sounds archaic - vernacular - but man she is a beautiful woman.....

so put a pic - cause us reader will only get what you have :)

hahaha.....grrrr........
I was afraid by the fact that...if I ever cross path with fellow blogger..they will beat the heck out of me....since..somehowe I endup on their wrongside......lolz

@ ceedy: u nailed it man! That was it having a perception of myself! nyway jhumpa Lahiri looks mre like a model. Like her way of carrying herself. Impressive. although i personally am not fond of her work.

A trivia question for u, in ur profile foto ...What is it that u are looking at? Obv not the camera right. Always the curious me! :)

@ kp: ouch! ok man...

@ duniya: hey bharath. Welcome 2 my space man! Finally i see u in my cmnt box! You were the reason i changed the only pic i put here, remember? u called and we discussed and there went my work! But i like the fact that my words are more impressive. Nice.

Liking, disliking is personal...what I just meant is it changed the perception of how I read her work....

and elaborating on perception of self....you must have guessed I am big aamir fan....so when I saw the poster of TZP...i was trying to emulate it....this is one of the 10 pics I took with the timer....and I am looking at the comp and thinking "what the heck am I doing"....that was the inner voice - another perception of me towards life....that got trappped on the facial muscles resulting in that photo - so a trivial answer to a heavy question - hope it helped ;P

@ ceedy: Gotcha. Actually i see that you look quite relaxed whatever the inner feelings were! :)
