Discipline
I'm not very disciplined.
As in, not as disciplined as i'd like to be.
All around me i see people doing their chores in time.
You know,
Cooking in time.
Sleeping in time.
Eating in time.
Reaching office in/on time.
Doing their everyday things with ease.
People take all these things for granted.
I don't.
I'm not one of those people.
I have never been.
I'd rather sit and read a book without proper food the whole day living on juices and cereals.
I have never done this but i sure wish i could!
I'm fed up with rushing things the last minute
I'm fed up wishing for someone else to do all the work.
I want to change......
This was me Three months back.
Now i seem to manage everything.
And doing it with ease.
It all started with one single disciplined practice a day.
I started lighting the diya everyday at a stipulated time.
You know after 10 days of this i started feeling guilty if i hadn't.
Maybe because God was involved.... I don't know.
I don't think that was the only reason. Just that i felt i had let myself down.
After this daily ritual, my disciplined behaviour slowly started seeping into other everyday chores without me knowing it. That's the best part.
There was no struggle, no need for encouraging words, just easy movement with least resistance.
Happy disciplined Preethi, I like her this way :)

makes sense....
i am going to switch of my laptop at 11.00....as a rule...wont feel sleepy in the morn
then everything else will fall into place :)........and the rest will
thank you for the little advice...now how do i get GOD involved is a question.....;)
BTW left you a comment on U23d chk it
wow.. congrats... i am still pretty undisciplined myself... and every day i tell myself today will be the day I start this routine.. I should I should!!
Good! Now move the diya lighting time to 6:00am in the morning and you'll be all set. :) Rise early and you'r pretty much assured that you go to bed early as well. The other way around doesn't seem to work.
Good for you .. I am sure it isnt as easy as you have described it .. it definitely is an uphill task to change old habits :)
I should try this approach.....:) Everyday I should open GMAT book for an hour (productive one hour without any breaks)start preparing to go back to B-School....thats the only way.....
Thanks
Nice and a simple blog!! Discipline makes things easier.Isn't it? Have been trying to put myself into this shoes for sometime now and am glad i have been successful, although i fall short once in a while, which i think is required!
Hehe may you continue the disciplined routine :D
cheers!
preethi, i knw exactly wht u r talking about ...err in this case, blogging about.
for me, when the kids go to school everything happens exactly on time but the days the kids r at home, everything goes haywire. No, its not their fault, its just tht their mother oversleeps:-p.
@ ceedy: Did u switch off the laptop at 11 yest?? ;)
@preethi: Thanks:) But I was in that phase for 2 years! Telling everynight that tomoro will be the beginning The point was to start somewhere and I did :)
@ indigoo: Diya lighting at 6? me? Not happening !!! But right you are when you say get up early, our body makes sure we hit the bed in time....mmmm....
@ cosmic joy: Right. That's what everyone thinks and i did too for a long time but i feel once you REALLY decide to change, you do. Start somewhere though. :)
@ kp: That's nice. start doing it :)
@ reeta skeeter: I certainly hope to do that. one reason why i blogged about it... so that i'd cont. :)
@ Nancy: Non-school days over-sleeping is totally totally understandable... i'm all for it :) My daughter isn't in school yet, she's on waiting list, maybe after that i'll be more tuned to that schedule :) And also
MOM"S ROCK! :)
wow..i admire you..must follow yours and ceedy's suggestions..
@ backpakker: :)
@ Ceedy, I think I have the same problem as you. I cannot turn my laptop off. Keep browsing and playing till 2 am and then realize I will only get 5 hours of sleep. I promise myself that I will not do that the next day and tomorrow never comes. There have been times when I did that and felt sooooooo good but not good enough to do it everyday, I guess.
@preethi
actually nope - told you needed to get GOD involved - so was looking for a widget that was like a timer and locked up the computer at 11.00 :)
wanted to call it GOD :).....no seriously I switched it off at 10.30 but its like quitting smoking I guess.....will take time
@backpakker
try it and please let me know if you suceed
@solitaire
yes tried it - but its kind of an addiction.....probably we need to design a "patch" for it and "black circle" below eyes removal cream
hey cool,
u know what, i was too discilplined many years back in terms of the routine, the time ...having two boys now has loosened me up and now we r disciplined in certain areas and in the others, have really taught myself to let go...
but yes, you are right... a little discipline actually gives you more time on your hands...
Does Writing a post every day Make you disciplined as well? :P
@ thinking aloud: Oh Yes. you nailed it, It is all about time management. I'm learning.........
@ cruel: I sure wish i cud write a post everyday :) Cos writing always makes me happy. Now, who wudn't want more happiness?
Thanks I knew I missed something....
Its Jani...

Good for you:) but you must have work on it hard.
they says, if you do a thing as and when you want to do for 20 days daily - you can actually cultivate a habit of it.
@ ceedy: Ah! Sure, the proof reader in me never dies! Oh yes Obama i'm happy. This time i'm going to be relatively quiet till he wins. ( the Patriots lesson! ;))
@ romila: Yes. I have heard that too. But u got to do that without a break. I wasn't so regular in the beginning but now i'm.
